Ballet Master
Raúl Tino started his dance studies in 1977 with Julia Estévez and Luis Fuente. Two years later, he earned the first grant of the Ballet Nacional de España Clásico, joining its corps de ballet in 1980 while combining his professional activities with his studies in classical dance. He finally graduated with distinction. He was promoted to soloist in 1983 and to first artist in 1985.
In his career as a dancer, he has broadened his experience with the different styles of Bejart, Tudor, Balanchine, Petipa, Kilyan, Duato, Mats Ek or Forsythe and has played different leading roles including the following ballets: Cantata 51, Serenade, Concierto Barroco, Jardín de lilas, Cascanueces, Raymonda, Paquita, El lago de los cisnes, La Fille mal Gardée, Niños viejos, Sinfonía india, Madrigal, Forgotten Land or In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated.
In 1987 he was invited as star dancer by the Ballet Nacional de Venezuela to perform in Romeo y Julieta, in a version expressly adapted for him by Vicente Nebrada, director and choreographer of the ballet. He has danced at different star galas and at international festivals as partner of figures of the like of Carla Fracci, Eva Eudokinova, Trinidad Sevillano, Lynne Charles, Arantxa Argüelles and Maya Plisetskaya.
In 1991 he was named Best Classical Dancer of Spain together with Nacho Duato (Best Choreographer) and Julio Bocca (Best Foreign Dancer).
Since 1996 he has been part of the Ballet Nacional de España in the capacity of Classical Dance master. He was appointed assistant artistic director under the directorship of Aída Gómez. He is currently master and collaborates as repetiteur in ballets that require his classical, neoclassical, and contemporary background.
He has also taught at different schools and conservatories in Spain and in companies like Shanghai Ballet and Mexico’s Compañía Nacional de Danza.
