Premiered by the Ballet Nacional de España at the Entoldado Plaza Mayor in Gijón on 16 August 1980.
A return to Antonio Ruiz Soler, Isaac Albéniz and the Escuela Bolera. Puerta de tierra –a bolero whose title refers to one of the most significant monuments in the city of Cádiz– is one of the pieces included in Recuerdos de viaje by the Gerona composer. Antonio Ruiz Soler included it in his homage to the musician and with his choreography he wished to pay tribute to “la tacita de plata” [“the silver little cup” – endearing name the city of Cádiz is also known by]. It is a escuela bolera duo that is both vibrant, like the music, and elegant, while it is also technically very demanding for dancers, but this allows them to display their virtuoso skills and faculties.
