World premiere by the Ballet Nacional de España in Naves del Español, Matadero (Madrid, Spain) on 12 June 2013.
Reestablishing folklore is the driving force behind this choreography, in which Antonio Najarro wanted to give a step forward in Spanish dance. It is directed by Franco Dragone, a creator at Cirque du Soleil, and costumes are by prestigious French designer, who is connected to Spain, Nicolás Vaudelet. The collection Visión de España, painted by Joaquín Sorolla in 1911 commissioned by the Hispanic Society of Nueva York, and the choreography, travel across different Spanish regions including Castille, Aragon, Navarra, Gipuzkoa, Seville, Galicia, Catalonia, Valencia, Extremadura, Elche and Ayamonte, through the four styles of our dance: Spanish classical dance, escuela bolera, flamenco and folklore, which make up the backbone of this work. This anniversary gala includes the closing fragments of the choreography, which portray through flamenco the most popular painting of the series: El baile.
