Biography

Diego Losada started his artistic career as a six-year-old taking part in different TV contests and other shows. Aged 18, he joined the Tablao Los Canasteros de Manolo Caracol, dancing and playing for Chato de la Isla, Gabriel Moreno, La Paquera de Jerez, Juan Ramírez, La Chana, Cristóbal Reyes, Manolete and La Tati. In 1987, he set up Grupo Makande with Niño Cigala and Víctor Merlo at the Alcalá Palace in Madrid.

He has played in countless flamenco shows including Cumbre Flamenca (soloist from 1986 to 1990), Misa Flamenca (from 1992 to 1995), Flamenco Fusión at Madrid’s Teatro Monumental together with Jorge Pardo, Benaven, Rubén Dantas, El Cigala, La Susi, etc (1990 to 92), Istanbul International Festival (89, 90 & 93), Soloist at the Festival de la Guitarra de Córdoba (1990), Concert for the British Royal Family at Kesington Palace (1993), the opera Carmen at Tokyo’s Yoyogi Stadium and a tour with Japanese jazz musician Hino Terumasa.

In 2000, he joined Joaquín Cortés Company, and later collaborated in the soundtrack of the film Gitano (2004) and took part in the Bustese Guitar Festival (Italy) and as soloist at Zagreb Festival.

He has released five records with his brothers: Pa´llorar, by Momento (1991), produced by Karonte Records, Losadas (1997) by Pep Records, Corazones Rotos (1999) by Sony Music, On the Road, with Hino Terumasa (1989) and Arte y Pasión with Nimbus Record (2000).

He has been a guitarist at the Ballet Nacional de España since 2006.
