Roberto Vozmediano

He started as a percussionist (specialist) at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Comandante Fortea of Comunidad de Madrid, working on different occasions at the Teatro Real in Madrid and as a specialist at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza of the Comunidad de Madrid “Carmen Amaya” (El Espinillo) for three years.

Since 2001 he has accompanied maestro José María Gallardo del Rey and Teresa Berganza (mezzo soprano) with the La Marestranza chamber ensemble, performing at prestigious venues including Paris Opera, Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra and Carnegie Hall (New York). With Juan Manuel Cañizares he went on tour with the shows Noches de Imán y Luna and Iberia in Japan (Blue Note in Tokyo), Turkey and Spain. He also performed at the USA Flamenco Festival (New York’s Carnegie Hall), with José María Gallardo del Rey in the show Mano a Mano and at the Flamenco pa tos Festival (2007). In 2002 he joined the Antonio Najarro Dance Company in the shows Tango Flamenco and Flamencoriental, touring the US, Turkey, France, and Italy in addition to Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada).

He made regular appearances on Televisión Española (2001-2005) and took part at the Festival de Guitarra in Córdoba with José María Gallardo del Rey, Bienal del Flamenco in Sevilla with La Maestranza chamber ensemble and the collaboration of Félix Grande and in Flamenco pa tos (2008) with Paco del Pozo (winner of the Lámpara Minera Award).

His recorded works include a collaboration in Desafío, by singer Malú; the recording of the percussion in the record José de Lucía, by José de Lucía; collaborating in the record Habanera, by Elina Garanca (mezzo soprano) (Universal Music Group. Deustche Grammophon) and in José María Gallardo del Rey’s record, My Spain (Universal Music Group. Deustche Grammophon).

He has been percussionist of the Ballet Nacional de España since 2012.
