Biography

Saray Muñoz daughter of Tina and niece of Carmela, internationally known as ‘Las Grecas’. They were the first gypsies to fusion flamenco and rock and were hugely successful with their song Te estoy amando locamente, that ranked number one in Spanish hit lists for a very long time. Her mother’s third record included a song dedicated to her titled Mi niña Saray. 

When she was 19 years old her mother died and aged 22, she was asked to join her aunt in Las Grecas’ and was offered a contract to tour Spain. Aged 25, she decided to leave the group and start a career on her own. She started to work at different tablaos in Madrid like Casa Patas, Al-andalus, Corral de la Pacheca, Torres Bermejas, among others.

In 2005 she joined Joaquín Cortes Company for the shows Mi soledad and Calé and went on a worldwide tour. In 2007, she took part in the show Los Grandes by Antonio Canales Company. She worked with different artists and companies including Rafael Amargo, Ara Malikian, Jorge Pardo, Tim Ries, Raimundo Amador, Concha Buika, María Juncal, Lola Greco, Carmela Greco, and José Greco.

In August 2009, she joined Sara Baras Company, and took part in different shows: Juana la loca, Carmen and Esencia. She toured Spain and France. Saray is a cantaora and composer. She has written lyrics for most of the shows she has been involved in. She continued to do solo tours across the United States and France while collaborating with different artists, starting new, exciting projects. 

She has been a member of the Ballet Nacional de España as cantaora since 2012.
