World premiere by the Ballet Nacional de España at the Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico de Mérida on 4 August 1984. Revival by the Ballet Nacional de España at the Teatro de La Zarzuela de Madrid on 25 October 2012.
Bailaor and choreographer Juan Quintero, unforgettable in the part of Creon in Medea, pens this piece for three bailaores that has been performed by some of the foremost figures of the Ballet Nacional de España throughout the years. Sober and elegant in the movements of the torso and arms, it leaves the most exquisite fancy footwork for the zapateado. It is a perfect example of how to perform flamenco when is dutifully choreographed for a group while at the same time allowing every bailaor to express their unique personality.
