Actualidad

Bailando un tesoro is an illustrated book to tell children about Spanish dance, its styles, and its values. Through Mercedes Palacios’s illustrations and Azucena Huidobro’s text we follow the four protagonists -the children Antonio, María, Alberto and Cristina- in their dream of becoming dancers.

We bring the Spanish dance heritage to children in an attractive way, teaching them the foundations of its four styles: folklore, escuela bolera, stylised dance and flamenco, while at the same time we tell them about the work done by the Ballet Nacional de España.

Published in 2016, the recent reprint of a thousand copies of Bailando un tesoro will again make available to parents, teachers, and children a very popular publication that was sold out.

“Reprinting this book is only the first step in my commitment to continue with the project of bringing Spanish dance to the youngest, which was started by the previous director of the Ballet Nacional de España”, Rubén Olmo stated. “The future of dance needs kids. That is why I want to boost BNE educational project so that more and more children get to know and love Spanish dance”.

The book Bailando un tesoro has become a wonderful communication tool that we use successfully in the #BNEalcole learning workshops that we give in Madrid schools and other schools and associations in the Spanish cities where we perform.

“You can’t love what you ignore”, Mariemma used to say. She is one of the choreographers that have contributed a great deal to studying and spreading Spanish dance. That is why our goal is to make available the knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of one of the most important cultural treasures of our country so that the new generations can discover it, feel proud of it, and love it.
